Barnes Appointed to Patrol the Action at the CONCACAF U-17 Qualifying Tournament in May
CHICAGO (Monday, April 2, 2001) - U.S. Soccer's Andrew Barnes was appointed to officate at the CONCACAF U-17 Qualifying Tournament in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, May 2-6, 2001.
Group B of CONCACAF Qualifying will be played at Estadio Olimpico in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, where the host nation will be joined by Costa Rica, Haiti and Mexico. One team from the group will qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Championship to be played in September in Trinidad & Tobago.
Barnes, 37, was appointed to the FIFA International Panel of Referees Jan. 1, 2000. He is from Baton Rouge, La.
This June Barnes will be going to France to referee in the Toulon Cup - an annual tournament featuring the top Under-20 Men's Teams in the world.
