Braun, Ihemelu Released from U.S. MNT January Training Camp

CARSON, Calif. (Jan. 12, 2011) — Chivas USA forward Justin Braun and FC Dallas defender Ugo Ihemelu have been released from the U.S. Men’s National Team January training camp. There are no immediate personnel additions planned, reducing the roster to 23 players.

  • Braun sustained a laceration in the region of his left Achilles on Jan. 11 during the morning training session.  The injury required four stitches and will sideline the forward for seven days.

    Ihemelu is bothered by hip and groin injuries that he had rested following the 2010 MLS season. The medical staff monitored his progress and after six days of training, and consultation with his club, they have determined that the best long term approach is for him to return to the club for further evaluation and rehabilitation in advance of the 2011 MLS campaign.
