MLS Cup 2001 Tickets On Sale to General Public on September 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Friday, August 31, 2001) - Fans without a ticket to see the top two MLS teams battling for the league's championship still have an opportunity to purchase tickets to see MLS Cup 2001 in person. All remaining tickets to the championship match will go on sale to the general public tomorrow morning - Saturday, September 1 - at 10 a.m. ET.

Individual ticket prices for the championship game are:

  • Club - SOLD OUT
  • Midfield - $38
  • Sideline/Corner - $29
  • Endline - $23

Home of the Columbus Crew and America's first major league stadium built specifically for soccer, Crew Stadium (expanded MLS Cup capacity: 23,194) will host MLS Cup 2001 on Sunday, October 21, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. ET. The championship match will be broadcast live on ABC and ESPN International, bringing the game to 108 countries around the globe.

MLS Cup 2001 will feature two MLS teams vying for the league's championship and possession of the Alan I. Rothenberg Trophy. Each of the three MLS Division Champions will advance to the MLS Cup Playoffs and will be seeded 1, 2 or 3 by virtue of greater regular season point total. In order to complete the eight-team playoff bracket, the remaining five "wild card" teams will be determined by the total number of regular season points, regardless of division.
