September Referees of the Week: 2012-13 Development Academy Season


Throughout the U.S. Soccer Development Academy season, referees are recognized on a weekly basis for their outstanding performance officiating U-15/16 and U-17/18 matches.

The 2012-13 Development Academy kicked off over the Sept. 8-9 weekend and four referees were honored through the first four weeks of the season:

Week 4: Joshua Brooks earned Referee of the Week honors for his performance during overseeing a match between Crew Soccer Academy and Shattuck-Saint Mary’s Soccer Academy over the Sept. 27-28 weekend. The Kentucky-based referee has worked in two previous Academy Finals Weeks in 2010 and 2011.

Week 3: Shaine Danbeli earned Referee of the Week honors for his performance during the U-17/18 match between Pateadores and Nomads SC. The 24-year-old Grade 5 referee based in southern California has worked 38 Academy matches over the past two years through the Sept. 22-23 weekend and attended the 2010 and 2011 Winter Showcases. Danbeli also works Youth National Team, USL PRO and W-League matches.

Week 2: Jordan Shaw earned Referee of the Week honors for his performance for the U-17/18 match between North Meck SC and Weston FC. The 26-year-old Grade 5 referee from North Carolina has worked 23 Academy matches over the past two years through the Sept. 15-16 weekend and appeared at the 2012 Academy Playoffs and Showcase. Shaw also worked NASL, USL PRO, Premier Development League and W-League games.

Week 1: Mohammad Samadpour earned Referee of the Week honors for his performance during the U-17/18 match between Potomac and FC DELCO. Samadpour was a Referee of the Week in late May during the 2011-12 Academy season. Aside from Development Academy matches, the Maryland-based referee has previously worked United Soccer League games.
