U-15 BNT Falls to Uruguay in Copa Mexico de Naciones Semifinals

USA Faces Paraguay in Third-Place Game on Aug. 18

MEXICO CITY (Aug. 16, 2013) – The U.S. Under-15 Boys’ National Team fell to Uruguay 2-0 in the semifinals of the 2013 Copa Mexico de Naciones at Centro de Capacitacion.

With the loss, the U.S. will now play in the tournament’s third-place game against Paraguay on Sunday, Aug. 18.

Both goals came in the second half of the 70-minute match, with Uruguay’s Francisco Velazquez scoring the game-winner in the 42nd minute off of a set piece, and Diego Marachlian scoring on a penalty kick in the 67th minute.

The U.S. and Uruguay had faced each other in the tournament’s group stage, with the USA earning a 3-1 victory on Aug. 12.
