U.S. Erases Early Two-Goal Deficit to Take Third in CONCACAF Beach Soccer Tourney

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico (Dec. 5, 2010) – The U.S. Beach Soccer Men's National Team finished in third place at the CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup with a 7-5 victory against Costa Rica.

Although both teams were eliminated from World Cup contention with semifinal defeats, the match turned into a great spectacle, packed with goals and brilliant moves.

Costa Rica began the match at a high pace and after fourth minutes had a 2-0 lead. The U.S. remained un-phased, however, with Ryan Futagaki, Jevin Albuquerque, Yuri Morales and Zak Ibsen scoring the match’s next four goals by the end of the second period.

The teams each scored three times in the third and final period, with Albuquerque netting the game-winner for the U.S. side.
