Washington Premier FC Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Initiative

When Washington Premier FC partnered with a local bottled water company the new partnership extended into raising cancer awareness, specifically types that affect women. Washington Premier FC and their sponsor have supported a number of community service initiatives; from a student-athlete scholarship award to the “Wear Pink” initiative during the month of October. When the mention of going pink for October was presented at a recent partnership meeting, the club took the challenge head on.

The club chose to include the “Wear Pink” initiative with this past weekend’s Academy games against visiting L.A. Galaxy and Chivas USA. The Washington Premier FC Academy teams not only wore pink armbands, but provided them to each member of the visiting L.A. Galaxy and Chivas USA teams as well as the referee crews for all four games.

On Saturday, the U-15/16 Washington Premier FC team beat L.A. Galaxy 3-2 while the tables were turned in the U-17/18 game with L.A. Galaxy capturing the 4-1 win. The split results remained the same on Sunday, with the U-15/16 Washington Premier going 1-1 with a U-15/16 loss against Chivas USA and the U-17/18 team coming away with the 3-1 result against L.A. Galaxy due to a come from behind goal by Jamael Cox and two goals scored by Jeremy Wentzel.
