Fifteen Former Academy Players Chosen in Rounds 3 and 4 of MLS SuperDraft
Capping off the 2014 MLS SuperDraft on Tuesday, teams from across the league selected 15 players with ties to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy in Rounds 3 and 4.
The earliest pick of Round 3 (40th overall) was Lonestar SC alum Kris Tyrpak, who is headed to Chivas USA. Later that round, another Lonestar product, Michael Lisch, was selected by the Houston Dynamo as the 54th overall pick of the draft.
The Chicago Fire had three fourth-round selections and focused entirely on former Academy players for each pick: former Colorado Rapids Academy midfielder Zach Bolden, Met Oval’s Kadeem Dacres and former Fire Academy midfielder Bryan Ciesiulka.
Overall in the draft, there were 33 former Development Academy players chosen by MLS teams. Last Thursday, former De Anza Force player Christian Dean waspicked No. 3 overall in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft.
