The U.S. began to play better, but finding an equalizer was made tougher when Walker was sent off after pulling down an Inter Black striker who gotten a breakaway when defender Douglas Ferner, who had a terrific game in the back, slipped and fell. Down to 10 men for most of the second, substitute ‘keeper Brian Perk came up with some huge save as the U.S. was able to keep it just a one-goal game.
After a number of chances, the U.S. found finally found the elusive equalizer in the 71st minute, when second half substitute Cesar Nunez was fouled in the penalty area.
