SAO PAULO, Brazil (Tuesday, May 26, 2004) - The U.S. Under-21 Women's National Team won its second game in as many days, defeating a team of Brazilian Women's League All-Stars, 3-2, at Monte Siao Stadium in Sao Paulo.
All five goals came in a wild first half. The Brazilians tallied in just the second minute as Belo scored the first of her two goals, but the USA answered back in the eight minute as Joanna Lohman slid to finish a cross from defender Keeley Dowling. The U.S. took the lead in the 28th minute on a goal from Sarah Huffman, but Belo tied the game in the 36th minute on a questionable penalty kick.
The U.S. got the winning goal just before halftime as Natasha Kai scored her team-leading sixth goal of the year, running onto a long ball from Amy LePeilbet and blasted her shot through the hands of the Brazilian goalkeeper and into the net.
In a change to the schedule, the U.S. will finish the four-game tour with two matches against the Brazilian Olympic Team, on Thursday, May 27 and on Saturday, May 29, both at Lindoia Stadium in Sao Paulo.
