Dates and Location Set for 2011 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship


• Event, to be held in Guatemala from April 3-17, Will Qualify Four Teams to the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia

CHICAGO (Sept. 2, 2010) – The U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team has learned the dates and location for the 2011 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, which will be held from April 3-17 in Guatemala.

The event will qualify four teams to the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be held in Colombia from July 29-Aug. 20. In April, CONCACAF announced that the event will be played with 12 teams for the first time since 1996, with Canada, Mexico and the United States joining five teams from the Caribbean and four teams from Central America.

The U.S. finished second at the 2009 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, advancing to the final without allowing a single goal before falling 3-0 to Costa Rica.
