Alston Out with Hamstring Strain

CHICAGO (Feb. 10, 2010) - New England Revolution defender Kevin Alston will not travel to Carson for the start of the U.S. Men’s National Team training camp after suffering a left hamstring strain during a pre-season training session with New England. Alston had a similar injury during the U.S. training camp in January that prevented his full participation. Meantime, the D.C. United duo of Troy Perkins and Chris Pontius have been delayed in their travel due to weather conditions on the east coast, and will not be able to report until Friday. Training begins Thursday at The Home Depot Center.

The current group, comprised entirely of MLS-based players, will prepare for the USA's second match of 2010, a friendly against El Salvador on Feb. 24 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN Classic and TeleFutura beginning at 7 p.m. ET. Fans can also follow the game live via ussoccer.com's MatchTracker and at twitter.com/ussoccer.
