U-17 '89 MNT Win Toyota International Championship


TOYOTA, Japan (August 14, 2005) - The U.S. Under-17 '89 Men's National Team defeated Japan 2-1 this afternoon to win the 6th Toyota International Championship in Toyota, Japan.

The match was a close encounter with Japan holding a slight edge in shots, 15-14, and both 'keepers forced to make seven saves.

The U.S. jumped out to an early lead in the 15th minute when Cameron Brown fed Josmer Altidore and he buried his shot past Japan goalkeeper Kinoshita Masaki.

Twenty minutes later, Japan scored the equalizer as Yamamoto Kasuke was to get past the U.S. defense and beat Brian Perk.

The U.S. got the game-winner from Edgar Barajas after he took a pass from Ian Kalis and slipped it past Masaki.
