Nike Project-40 to Play in Three Pacific Northwest Exhibitions

CHICAGO (Tuesday, April 24, 2001) - Although the program will no longer field a team that competes in the A-League's Regular Season, a squad of sixteen Nike Project-40 members will convene this week for three exhibition matches with A-League clubs on the West Coast. Former Colorado Rapids Head Coach Glenn "Mooch" Myernick and current Chicago Fire assistant Tom Soehn will coach the team.

The three-match tour includes matches with the Vancouver Whitecaps (April 27 - 10:30 p.m. ET), Seattle Sounders (April 29 - 8 p.m. ET) and Portland Timbers (May 2 - 7 p.m. ET).

Players currently scheduled to make the trip include: Seth Trembly (Colorado), Mario Longo (Columbus), Edson Buddle (Columbus), Edward Johnson (Dallas), Miguel Saavedra (Dallas), Micah Cooks (D.C. United), Jose Burciaga (Kansas City), Michael Green (Kansas City), Marvin Quijano (Los Angeles), Isaias Bardales (Los Angeles), Kyle Beckerman (Miami), Nick Downing (New England), Chris Carrieri (San Jose), Devin Barclay (Tampa Bay), and guest player Matt Nyman (Tampa Bay).
