U.S. U-17 MNT Departs for Training Camp in Jamaica

CHICAGO (Jan. 25, 2010) – The U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team is now set for a seven-day training camp in Montego Bay, Jamaica, from Jan. 25-Feb. 3 that will be a precursor to the upcoming CONCACAF U-17 Championship.

The U.S. team will become familiar with its surroundings in Montego Bay ahead of the CONCACAF event, which will qualify the top four teams to the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup. After the training camp, which includes two friendlies against Jamaica, the squad will return to Bradenton, Fla., to continue daily training and travel again to Montego Bay on Feb. 10.

The 20-player training camp roster includes 15 players who took part in the Nike International Friendlies in Phoenix in December, including midfielder Matt Dunn, who is not part of the Residency Program but has been training with the squad in Bradenton.

Four players – Jordan Allen, Zach Carroll, Christian Duarte and Jack McBean – will be taking their first international trip with the U-17 MNT in their first semester in Residency. Alfred Koroma will also travel to Jamaica in his first semester as part of the program since Fall 2009.
