Pia the Pioneer

The U.S. WNT is training in Gothenburg, Sweden¹s second largest city and a place near and dear to the heart of head coach Pia Sundhage. She played many years in Gothenburg, winning four Swedish titles and two Swedish Cups for the Jitex club. Gothenburg was also the site of Sundhage¹s first international match and the site of the first leg of Sweden's 1984 European Championship Finals triumph. ussoccer.com chats with the women's soccer legend, and some of her peers, as one of the true pioneers of the game returns to her homeland.
