Fans In Stadium and Back Home Support #USWNT during #USAvAUS

The United States Women’s National Team opened its 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign on Monday with a 3-1 victory over Australia. The result, highlighted by a Megan Rapinoe double and stellar performance from goalkeeper Hope Solo, has the United States sitting atop the Group D standings.

The match averaged 3.31 million TV viewers on Fox Sports 1, more than three times the audience for the 2011 Women’s World Cup opener (via SportsTVRatings) and 31,148 fans attended Winnipeg Stadium to watch in-person. Many of those supporters were reppin’ the Stars and Stripes and took to social media to show their encouragement for the WNT.
