Twenty-Four Players Set For U-17 MYNT Training Camp in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Goalkeeper Zackory Campagnolo and Midfielder Santiago Morales Return from U-17 World Cup Roster

CHICAGO (March 8, 2024) – The U.S. Under-17 Men’s Youth National Team will gather for a training camp from March 10-15 in West Palm Beach, Fla. Twenty-four players from 15 clubs, including 12 in Major League Soccer, will feature at the camp. Two players that represented the U.S. at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup return to the fold: goalkeeper Zackory Campagnolo and midfielder Santiago Morales. 

Former U-16 MYNT head coach Shaun Tsakiris will lead the training camp. Tsakiris is currently head coach of LA Galaxy U-17 and served as an assistant during the 2022-23 U-20 MYNT cycle.

All 24 players on the roster were born in 2007, as players born on or after Jan. 1, 2007 are age-eligible for the U-17 MYNT during this one-year cycle that will end on July 31, 2024. The 2007 age group will then become the U-18 MYNT, while the current U-16 MYNT will become the U-17 MYNT and compete at the 2025 Concacaf U-17 Championship with the goal of qualifying for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Gonzalo Segares, who led the U.S. to the knockout stage of the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup, will serve as head coach for the 2008-birth year U-16 MYNT this year and continue with the 2008s as they transition to become the U-17 MYNT on Aug. 1.

Fifteen clubs are represented on the roster, led by three players each from MLS’ Inter Miami CF, LA Galaxy and New York City FC. Atlanta United FC, FC Dallas and Seattle Sounders FC also have two players apiece. Two players are based abroad: Brighton Hove Albion midfielder Darius Lane (England) and Lyon midfielder Axel Perez (France). Ten players were a part of the 2007-birth year U-17 MYNT’s first training camp of the cycle last fall in Portland, Ore.

With five players each, California and Florida lead the way of the eleven states represented on the roster. The squad also features players from Illinois (three), Washington (two), Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Texas and Utah (one each).
