Las Vegas Lights FC (USL) 4, FC Tucson (PDL) 2
Veteran striker Sammy Ochoa had two second-half goals and even Freddy Adu made an appearance as Las Vegas Lights FC from the United Soccer League (USL) won its first Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup game, defeating FC Tucson at Peter Johann Soccer Field in Las Vegas. Carlos Alvarez had a goal and an assist, Adu came on as a late substitute, and Ochoa, the former Seattle Sounders (MLS) and Sacramento Republic FC (USL) standout, started up top for the Lights but waited nearly an hour to punch in two goals in a 10-minute span (56’ and 65’) to break a 2-2 deadlock and send the expansion club to Southern California to face FC Golden State Force (PDL) in a Third Round game next Wednesday.
