U.S. defender Ali Krieger underwent surgery this morning at Commonwealth Orthopedics in Fairfax, Va., to repair the torn ACL in her right knee suffered in the first match of the 2012 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Krieger also tore her MCL, but that ligament was not surgically repaired as it has the ability to completely heal naturally during the rehabilitation process. Krieger's surgeon reported that the procedure went very well with no complications. Krieger will now begin the process of returning to the field, which will likely take anywhere from 6-8 months.
