CHICAGO (Jan. 27, 2014) – More than 10,000 tickets have been sold for the U.S. Women’s National Team’s first match in Atlanta as the world’s top-ranked team takes on Russia at the Georgia Dome on Feb. 12. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be webcast on ussoccer.com and fans can follow on Twitter @ussoccer_wnt.
Tickets for the USA’s first visit to the Georgia Dome are on sale through ussoccer.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000 and at all Ticketmaster ticket centers throughout the Atlanta area (including many Publix stores), as well as the Georgia Dome ticket office (open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET).
Groups of 20 or more can obtain an order form at ussoccer.com or call 312-528-1290. Ultimate Fan Tickets (special VIP packages that include a premium ticket, a custom-made official U.S. National Team jersey with name and number, VIP access to the field before and after the game, and other unique benefits) are also available exclusively through ussoccer.com.
The match on Feb. 12 will end the almost three-week road trip that begins in Texas with a game against Canada on Friday, Jan. 31, at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas (FOX Sports 1, 8 p.m. CT kickoff). The U.S. team will then travel to Boca Raton, Fla., for the first match against Russia at FAU Stadium (3:30 p.m. ET; ussoccer.com webcast) before moving up to Atlanta to finish the three-game set.
The U.S. Women have played five matches in the Atlanta area, but never in the city itself. The USA played the 1996 Olympic semifinal and gold medal games in Athens, Ga.
The USA has not faced Russia in more than a decade, with the last meeting on Sept. 29, 2002 – a 5-1 U.S. victory in Uniondale, N.Y. Russia put in a respectable performance in group play at last summer’s UEFA Women’s Championship, falling to France 3-1 before tying England and Spain, both by 1-1 scores.
