The first of three regional showcases in the Development Academy’s U-14 age group wrapped up Oct. 26 at Grand Sports Park in Westfield, Indiana.
Among the Academy’s Central region teams, Chicago-area Sockers FC and Michigan-based Vardar each had a perfect 3-0-0 showing.
Sockers FC had a 3-0-0 showing at the showcase. On Saturday, Sockers opened with a 3-2 win against Solar Chelsea and a 1-0 win against the Houston Dynamo. Sockers FC capped off the regional with a 6-3 victory against Sporting Kansas City.
Vardar’s three-win event included a 1-0 decision against the Houston Dynamo, a 3-0 victory against FC Dallas and a 4-1 win against Solar Chelsea. Assad Bujaidar scored three goals during the regional – two against FC Dallas and one against Solar.
Among some of the other standout teams, the Dallas Texans were 2-0-1, with a 3-1 win against Chicago Magic PSG and a 2-0 victory against St. Louis Scott Gallagher Metro. The Texans also drew Crew Soccer Academy Wolves 0-0. Kevin Li was the Texans’ leading scorer with three goals, including two against Chicago Magic PSG.
The Texas Rush also had two victories and a draw, defeating CSA Wolves and SLSG Missouri by 2-0 score lines and playing Chicago Magic PSG to a scoreless tie.
The regional included several players who competed at the U.S. Under-14 Boys’ National Team camp in mid-October.
