CHICAGO (May 17, 2022) – U.S. Soccer has announced the next application window for Academy Director, A-Youth, and Talent Scout courses:

  • Academy Director and A-Youth: Thursday, May 19, 2022, (12:00 p.m. CT) to Monday, June 6, 2022 (12:00 p.m. CT)
  • Talent Scout: Thursday, May 19, 2022, (12:00 p.m. CT) to Monday, June 13, 2022 (12:00 p.m. CT)

The Academy Director and A-Youth courses follow the traditional youth soccer calendar, wherein the courses operate from August 2022 to June 2023. Each license level will consist of a combination of virtual learning and in-person meetings. There are four in-person meetings planned for the Academy Director and three in-person meetings for the A-Youth, with each taking place over three to four-day periods.

The Talent Scout course will run from September to November and will consist of a combination of virtual learning and two in-person meetings.

“Over the past two course cycles, we have created greater collaboration opportunities between these important courses,” U.S. Soccer Director of Coaching Education Didier Chambaron said. “For clubs to continue to find success, these key roles must work in partnership.”

Interested applicants should review the course description below and allow enough time to complete the necessary steps within the application. All applications must be submitted through U.S. Soccer’s Learning Center.

“Scouting youth players is a big responsibility and can be very challenging, we believe this specialized education will help youth scouts to improve their awareness and process for identification, monitoring, and selection of players,” Director of Talent Identification Mirelle van Rijbroek said. “The course will also provide more insight and knowledge into the concept of talent and the challenges and constraints related to it, such as bias, growth and maturation, environment, learning ability, etc.”
