ATLANTA (May 2, 2025) – U.S. Soccer has announced the hiring of Vicky Jepson as full-time head coach of the U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team.

Jepson’s hire is subject to the completion of her visa and work permit process.

Vicky comes to U.S. Soccer from Tottenham Hotspur in England’s Women’s Super League, where she served as first team senior assistant head coach since 2021. In March of 2023, she served as the interim head coach for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign, leading the squad to secure its position to remain in the Women’s Super League, and since then has served as the top assistant through the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons.

“We are thrilled to welcome Vicky Jepson to our Youth National Team staff,” said Tracey Kevins, the U.S. Soccer Head of Development for the Women’s and Girls’ YNTs. “Vicky brings a wealth of experience, tactical knowledge and a proven track record of developing talent for the highest levels. Her leadership will be instrumental in driving our U-20 program, which serves as a crucial step in our National Team pathway.”

During Jepson’s time in North London, Spurs reached their first-ever FA Cup Final and Jepson earned her UEFA Pro License in June of 2024, becoming one of 17 female coaches to have completed the course with the England Football Association. In addition to her Pro License, Jepson holds UEFA “A” License and has worked across the full spectrum of the elite talent pathway, from U-11s to the senior professional level.

“It’s hard leaving Tottenham Hotspur after four memorable years at the club, but I’m moving on to work for the most progressive organization in the world for women’s football,” added Jepson. “Working alongside the incredible leadership of Tracey, (U.S. Soccer Sporting Director) Matt Crocker and of course a serial winner in Emma Hayes is an amazing opportunity. I can’t wait to get started.”

Before joining Spurs, Jepson served as manager at Liverpool Women, having earlier held the role of assistant manager, where she was named FA Female Development Coach of the Year. She spent more than 10 years at Liverpool in various youth development roles and then with the First Team.

Jepson, 37, takes over the U.S. U-20s as the squad prepares for the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship in Costa Rica, which will send the top four finishers to the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.

“I’m truly honored and excited to start my next chapter with the U.S. Soccer Federation," said Jepson. “I’m well aware of the great work that has been done in the past, that is being done currently under Emma and Tracey, and I know there are some ambitious plans for the future. I’m passionate about developing this next generation and I look forward to providing them with challenging and valuable experiences to help them grow as people and players. There is such a rich pool of talent in the USA and I’m so proud to be part of the players' journey to senior international football.”

Jepson has experience working on the international level as well. She worked for the England FA as a scout, coach educator and head coach for the England U-17 Women’s National Team, coaching the team through qualifiers and at the UEFA Women’s U-17 Euros.

Jepson becomes the fifth full-time head coach in the U.S. Soccer Women’s and Girls’ Youth National Team programs under Kevins, who coached the U.S. U-20s in the last two FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cups, the latter of which saw the USA finish third, its best placing since winning the 2012 FIFA U-20 WWC.

Carrie Kveton is the current U.S. U-19 head coach, Katie Schoepfer is the U.S. U-17 WNT head coach, Ciara Crinion is the U.S. U-16 GNT head coach and recent hire Vanessa Mann heads the U-15 GNT. Head coach positions for the U.S. U-23 WNT and U.S. U-18 WNT remain open but are slated to be filled in the near future.
