USWNT to Face El Salvador in 2026 Concacaf W Championship Quarterfinals

Concacaf has announced the dates, venues, seeding and matchups for the 2026 Concacaf W Championship, the Confederation’s qualifying tournament for both the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

The tournament’s Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Play-In matches will be hosted at Texas Health Mansfield Stadium in Mansfield, Texas, from Nov. 27-Dec. 2. The Third-Place Match and Final will take place at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas, on Dec. 5.

The U.S. Women’s National Team and Canada earned byes directly into the tournament as the two highest-ranked teams in Concacaf. Six additional teams qualified through the 2025/2026 Concacaf W Qualifiers: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico and Panama.

Quarterfinal matchups were determined based on the FIFA Women’s Rankings as of April 21, 2026, with teams seeded 1 through 8 and the highest-ranked team facing the lowest-ranked team in the opening round. No. 1 USA will face No. 8 El Salvador in the Quarterfinals on Friday, November 27. The winner will advance to the Semifinals on Tuesday, Dec. 1 against the winner of No. 4 Jamaica vs. No. 5 Costa Rica.

The four winners of the Quarterfinals automatically qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup . The four losing teams will move into the Play-In round, where they will compete for Concacaf’s two slots in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Play-Off Tournament.

The two Concacaf W Championship finalists and the third-place finisher will also secure a berth in the 2028 LA Olympic Games Women’s Football Tournament. The USA has already qualified as the hosts; therefore, if the USA finishes as one of the top three teams, Concacaf's final Olympic berth will be awarded to the fourth-place finisher.

The United States enters the tournament as the defending champion, having won the 2022 Concacaf W Championship in Monterrey, Mexico, with a 1-0 victory over Canada in the Final.

The USA’s Quarterfinal meeting with El Salvador will be the first-ever in women’s soccer between the two nations.
