Competition Overview

The U.S. Soccer Case Competition is a chance for Atlanta-area students to step outside the classroom and tackle a real-world sports problem, while gaining insight into the day-to-day work of the sports industry. Participants work in teams to solve a curated case that mirrors a high-impact, multi-faceted strategic initiative U.S. Soccer is currently pursuing. They apply skills across marketing, data analysis, and sports business strategy to develop a detailed recommendation, which is judged by U.S. Soccer staff.

Teams submit their responses in the form of a presentation deck, with a set of University Champions selected. These Champions then take part in an in-person event where they present their work live and compete for the title of Overall Champion. The event is attended by a large U.S. Soccer contingent, with opportunities to network and directly display industry knowledge to those in aspirational positions, receive exclusive access, and rewards.

The 2025 Case Competition was hosted by Clark Atlanta University on October 15th with the case topic of Building a Men’s College Soccer Championship. University Champions were selected from a highly competitive submission pool from schools across the metro Atlanta area. The 52 student participants from the 15 University Champion teams presented their recommendations to senior U.S. Soccer staff, with additional opportunities to network with other members of the USSF commercial, sporting, and strategy teams.
