Midfielder Kenny Saief Departs MNT Camp Due to Injury

Anderlecht Midfielder Released from MNT’s European Camp with Right Leg Injury

CHICAGO (June 6, 2018) - The roster for the U.S. Men’s National Team’s summer tour of Europe was reduced to 24 players on Wednesday as Kenny Saief departed camp with a right leg injury. No replacement will be made for the 24-year-old midfielder.

After picking up the injury towards the end of his season with Belgian club Anderlecht, Saief joined the MNT in Dublin last week but was limited in training and did not dress for Saturday’s match against the Republic of Ireland. Saief continued with the team in France, but after conversations with the club’s training staff, the collective decision was made to release the player as a precaution and allow him to prepare for his upcoming preseason camp.

The USA will conclude its summer tour when it takes on No. 7-ranked France on Saturday, June 9 at Groupama Stadium in Lyon. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN and UniMás.
