New England Revolution Defender Henry Kessler and San Jose Earthquakes Forward Cade Cowell Join USMNT Camp in Dallas

Walker Zimmerman Ruled Out With Hamstring Strain; Teams May Replace Injured Players up to 24 hours Prior to Quarterfinal

CHICAGO (July 20, 2021) – U.S. Mens National Team head coach Gregg Berhalter has called New England Revolution defender Henry Kessler and San Jose Earthquakes forward Cade Cowell to the team camp in Dallas.

 

Nashville SC defender Walker Zimmerman has been ruled out with a hamstring strain. Per the amended tournament regulations, teams can replace injured players up to 24 hours prior to the quarterfinal. 

 

At this point, no official requests for roster changes have been submitted to Concacaf.

 

The USMNT will take face either Costa Rica or Jamaica in the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup Quarterfinal on Sunday, July 25. Fans can follow all the matches on U.S. Soccer's official Facebook, Twitter (@USMNT) and Instagram (@USMNT) accounts.

 

Kessler was part of the U-23 USMNT roster for Olympic Qualifying earlier this year. Both he and Cowell are joining the senior team for the second time, having participated in the joint the training camp with the U-23s in January.
