U.S. Men’s Futsal National Team Returns To Training From May 26-29 In Wesley Chapel, Fla.

Touchpoint Training Camp in Florida Is the Second of Three Domestic Camps Beginning with April Camp in Dallas and Continuing with Camp in Portland in June

WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. (May 25, 2022) – The U.S Men's Futsal National Team returns to the court this week with the second of three planned touchpoint training camps in April, May and June as the team begins preparation for the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup cycle.

Head coach Dusan Jakica has called in a roster of 10 players for the camp being staged at the Wiregrass Ranch Sports Campus of Pasco County in Wesley Chapel, Fla. The camp runs from May 26-29 and is the first-ever Futsal National Team camp in the Tampa area and is being staged with the assistance of Florida’s Sports Coast.

The Futsal National Team touchpoint camp in Florida comes one month after the team opened their 2022 schedule with a 10-player camp in Dallas from April 28 to May 1. The team's next touchpoint camp is in Portland from June 23-26.

The roster in Florida includes five players from the USA’s 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup roster, including Lucho Gonzalez, who scored two goals for the team in Lithuania, and two players making their senior team debuts after being part of the identification player rosters at the first touchpoint camp of the year (Brenden Lee and Julio Varela).

As U.S. Soccer continues to bolster its Extended National Team’s Program, Touchpoint Training Camps have been introduced as a new type of camp designed to increase the number of domestic national team programs staged around the country.

The camps usually involve a shortened four-day training window with a roster of 10 rostered National Team players being joined by select, invitation-only identification camp players from across the country.
