NORDHORN, Germany (June 15, 2022) – The U.S. Under-15 Women’s Youth National Team defeated Germany, 3-1, to sweep its two-game trip to Europe that also included a 3-0 win over the Netherlands on June 10.

The USA fell behind in just the 12th minute after Laila Portella stripped a U.S. defender at the top of the penalty box, took a touch into the penalty area and finished to stake her side to an early 1-0 lead.

The USA would go on to score three unanswered goals while outshooting the Germans, 13-6, for the match. The young Americans equalized in the 37th when forward Alexandra Pfeiffer pounced on the rebound off a poor German defensive clearance and finished with her second touch.

The USA took a lead it would not relinquish just seconds into the second half as midfielder Hannah Jordan delivered a corner kick to midfielder Ainsley McCammon at the top of the penalty area. McCammon brought the ball down and shot over the goalkeeper to make it 2-1.

The match was put to bed in the 68th minute as forward Ava Harrison beat the German back line with a one-touch pass to midfielder Kennedy Fuller, who finished past the ‘keeper off a well-timed run into the box. The goal was the third in two games for Fuller, who also scored twice against the Dutch.

Pfeiffer and McCammon’s goals were their first at the international level.

This was third event of 2022 for the U.S. U-15s under head coach Katie Schoepfer, but these matches were the first international games for this age group since the summer of 2019 after a long pause in programming due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Players for this year’s U.S. U-15 WYNT player pool were born on or after Jan. 1, 2007, and Schoepfer named a roster featuring 19 players born in 2007 and one born in 2008.
