U.S. U-15 WYNT Downs Germany, 1-0, To Finish European Training Camp As Scottie Antonucci Scores Game-Winner With Four Minutes Left Directly From A Corner Kick

Young Americans Sweep Two Games in Europe After Also Beating Netherlands, 7-0

NORDHORN, Netherlands (June 13, 2023) – The U.S. Under-15 Women’s Youth National Team defeated Germany, 1-0, on a late goal from forward Scottie Antonucci to sweep two games in Europe. The young Americans also defeated the Netherlands, 7-0, on June 11.

Amazingly, the winning goal came directly off a corner kick as Antonucci served up her “goal Olimpico” from the right side. The ball skimmed off the fingertips of the Germany goalkeeper and flew into the top left corner.

The U.S. team defense did well to keep a talented Germany team off the board for 80 minutes and goalkeepers Evan O’Steen and Liesal Tetmeyer combined to make five saves.

The goal was Antonucci’s first at the international level. All the players on the roster were born in 2008.
