U.S. Men’s Olympic Soccer Team Set to Face France on March 25 in Montbeliard

USA Take on Paris 2024 Hosts in France as Olympic Preparations Continue

CHICAGO (Feb. 9, 2024) – As the U.S. Men’s Olympic Soccer Team prepares to return to the Olympic Games for the first time since 2008, the USA will face France on Monday, March 25 at 3 p.m. ET at Stade Bonal in Montbéliard, France.

The Men’s Olympic Team serves as an important part of U.S. Soccer’s mission to develop winning teams and it will provide some of the nation’s top young talents the opportunity to face elite opposition on the world stage this summer. The Men’s Olympic Soccer Tournament is restricted to players under the age of 23, with an allowance for three overage players.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for us to play France- the Olympic host and a strong soccer nation,” said Men’s Olympic Team head coach Marko Mitrovic, “France is consistently one of the world’s top teams at every age group. This match provides a great chance for us to face another challenging opponent as we continue preparations for the Olympic Games.”

The Men’s Olympic Team has played four games since its return to action during the October international window. Mitrović has led the squad to two wins, against Mexico and Japan in Phoenix, Ariz., plus a 1-1 draw with Iraq and a hard-fought 1-0 loss to Morocco in San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain.

The U.S. qualified for its first Olympic Men’s Football Tournament in 16 years with a dominant performance at the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship. There, the U.S. topped host Honduras 3-0 before a raucous crowd in San Pedro Sula to secure its Olympic berth.

France qualified as host of the 2024 Olympics and is coached by the legendary Thierry Henry, a World Cup champion for France who spent five seasons with Major League Soccer’s New York Red Bulls towards the end of his playing career. Les Bleus finished third in its group at the postponed 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Their best finish came at the top of the podium at Los Angeles 1984 and they also took silver on home soil at Paris 1900.
