2026 SheBelieves Cup, presented by Visa: Day 1 Recap
Canada sits atop tournament standings after 4-1 win over Colombia; USWNT currently in second place following 2-0 victory against Argentina



The first match day of the 2026 SheBelieves Cup, presented by Visa, saw both Concacaf nations earn wins over their CONMEBOL counterparts. Canada kicked off the tournament in Nashville, Tenn. with a 4-1 win against Colombia followed by the U.S. Women’s National Team’s 2-0 win against Argentina.
The standings following the first match day of the tournament see Canada in first place on goal differential. USA is in second, Argentina is in third and Colombia is in fourth.
In the first match of the day, Canada snapped a 485-minute scoreless drought off a header from Vanessa Gilles in the 31st minute. Canada carried its momentum into the second half, adding two more goals, from Janine Sonis and Sydney Collins. The Colombians got on the scoreboard with a finish by Leicy Santos from the penalty spot, but Canada regained its three-goal lead with a first-time finish from Nichelle Prince in the final minute of regulation.
It was a chippy opening match that saw seven cautions across both teams. Colombia’s Gisela Robledo was sent off following her second yellow card and will be suspended for the match against Argentina on March 4.
The intensity continued later in the day as the USA came out on top in the second match that featured 33 fouls, 21 of them by Argentina. Captain Lindsey Heaps ripped a left-footed shot from the top of the box to put the Americans ahead in the 19th minute. Jaedyn Shaw doubled the lead after halftime off the back-heeled assist from Heaps.
The teams will head to ScottsMiracle-Gro Field in Columbus, Ohio, next for the second double header of the tournament on Wednesday, March 4.
