Second Half Strikes Carry CP MNT to 3-0 Win vs. Scotland in Stuart Sharp’s 100th Match as Head Coach
Substitute Frankie Lowery Leads USA to Victory With Second-Half Brace; Ben Lindau Provides Assists on All Three Goals
ATLANTA (May 22, 2026) – The U.S. Men’s Cerebral Palsy (CP) National Team marked Stuart Sharp’s 100th match leading the side with an emphatic 3-0 win against Scotland at the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center on Friday. Substitute Frankie Lowery bagged two goals and Wes Pincince scored another to give the USA its second win in the International Challenge Matches which were held as part of the 2026 ADAPTandTHRIVE Invitational and served as preparation for the team’s participation in the 2026 IFCPF Cerebral Palsy World Cup to be held at the National Training Center this October.
Sharp, who began managing the CP MNT in 2014 after guiding his native Scotland in the same capacity, made five changes to the lineup that started Thursday’s match, inserting goalkeeper Sean Boyle, defender Kyle Montgomery, midfielders Jacob Kaplan and Wesley Pincince and forward Cameron DeLillo.
Looking to avenge the previous day’s loss, it was Scotland who created the first real chance as forward Will Graham broke free and blasted a shot from outside the box that Sean Boyle parried back into play. Graham latched onto the rebound, but pulled it wide of the left post in the fourth minute. Taking another free kick three minutes later, Graham forced a fabulous diving stop out of Boyle at the left post.
The U.S. had nice build-ups but didn’t find its first quality chance until the 16th minute when Kaplan went on a blazing run through midfield before cutting to his right and pulling his effort just wide of the post.
That sparked more for the U.S. attack seconds later as DeLillo beat his man down the left flank before sending a low cross to Wes Pincince at the right post, but the U.S. attacker put his chance just over the bar.
In the 20th minute, DeLillo went on a dazzling run of his own down the right, beating two defenders and rounding the goalkeeper but went off balance and turned his effort just wide of the left post.
After the U.S. held a good amount of possession, captain Josh Brunais found space down the right and strolled to the endline where he cut back from Ben Lindau, but the midfielder rocketed his effort just over the cross bar in the 25th minute and the teams went into halftime at a 0-0 deadlock.
Inserted into the match at halftime, Lowery made an immediate impact as he latched onto a looping ball over the top from Lindau and poked the ball between the legs of Scotland ‘keeper Christopher Moore to give the USA a 1-0 advantage in the 31st minute.
Lowery paid dividends at the other end of the field when a cross from the right got past Boyle, but the defender was there at the back post to clear it off the line in the 34th minute.
The USA got its second just a minute later as Lindau’s cross from the right evaded an attempted clearance from a Scotland defender and fell for Pincince who tucked it home at the back post to make it 2-0.
Lowery made it 3-0 in the 38th minute, receiving the ball from Lindau at midfield before going on a penetrating run and rocketing a left-footed effort inside the right post.
The U.S. substitutes continued to apply pressure, with Adam Ballou receiving the ball in midfield and cranking a blast from 30 yards off the cross bar in the 52nd minute.
With the result firmly in hand thanks to the second half fury of goals, the night was capped by substitute U.S. goalkeeper Bonner Rinn entering the match in the 60th minute. Rinn who was celebrating his 51st birthday on Friday, shared the clean sheet with Boyle as the U.S. gave Sharp a memorable 3-0 win in his 100th match as head coach.
