Pochettino Adds Damion Downs to USMNT Roster for International Matches Against Peru, Chile, Mexico and Canada
Forward Ricardo Pepi Withdrawn Due to Injury; Roster Stands at 28 Players Heading into First Matches of New Cycle
ATLANTA (Sept. 20, 2026) – U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Mauricio Pochettino has added forward Damion Downs to the roster for the upcoming September and October matches against Peru, Chile, Mexico and Canada. The St. Louis City SC forward will join camp tomorrow at the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center.
Forward Ricardo Pepi has been withdrawn due to injury after being substituted in PSV Eindhoven’s 3-2 defeat to FC Twente today.
Downs, 22, has made six appearances for the USMNT, debuting June 10, 2025, against Switzerland. During the USA’s run to the final of the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup, Downs scored the winning penalty in the shootout against Costa Rica in the quarterfinal.
A dual citizen of the United States and Germany, Downs helped German-side FC Koln earn promotion to the Bundesliga in 2024-25, registering 10 goals and five assists to win the Second Bundesliga. He is currently on loan with St. Louis City SC from Southampton in the EFL Championship. The forward will return to his home stadium during this window as the USMNT face Chile at Energizer Park in St. Louis.
The slate begins with USA-Peru on September 26 at Inter.co Stadium in Orlando, Fla. Kickoff for the Fan Appreciation Match is 4:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on TNT, truTV, HBO Max, Telemundo, Universo, and Peacock. [TICKETS]
Three days later on September 29, USA-Chile, the Impact Match presented by New York Life, kicks off at 7 p.m. CT (8 p.m. ET) from Energizer Park in St. Louis, with the match against La Roja to be shown live on TNT, truTV, HBO Max, Universo, and Peacock. [TICKETS]
The classic USA-Mexico rivalry will resume on October 3 in Glendale, Ariz. at State Farm Stadium. Kickoff from the home of the Arizona Cardinals is 7 p.m. MT (10 p.m. ET) and will be broadcast on TNT, HBO Max, Telemundo, Universo, and Peacock. [TICKETS]
Closing out the four-match window, the USMNT will take on northern neighbor Canada on October 6 at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minn. USA-Canada, presented by American Airlines, kicks off at 7 p.m. CT (8 p.m. ET), with the match shown live on TNT, truTV, HBO Max, Universo, and Peacock.[TICKETS]
