U.S. Under-17 Men's National Team Splits Four Matches in Spain
U.S. Tops Scotland 4-1 and Netherlands 2-1 before Falling to Belgium and France in September International Window

ATLANTA (Oct. 16, 2026) -- The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team concluded its September international window in Spain with a 2W-2L-0D record. The team defeated Scotland 4-1 and the Netherlands 2-1, then fell 4-1to both Belgium and France.
The camp is part of the Federation’s continued focus on the U.S. Way philosophy, which emphasizes increased programming for Youth National Teams to create more opportunities for young players to advance through the pathway to the senior National Team with the goal of representing their country at a world championship.
The window also served as preparation for World Cup Qualifying in February 2027.
USA 4, Scotland 1
Forward Kaeden McDowell scored twice as the U.S. converted four of its five shots in a 4-1 win over Scotland to begin the window at Pinatar Arena in San Pedro del Pinatar.
McDowell opened the scoring in the ninth minute when he dribbled into the penalty area and finished from close range. The forward doubled the lead in the 34th minute, finishing a cross from forward Roman Avakain Gomez.
Scotland captain Boyd Fraser converted a penalty kick in the 40th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. The U.S. answered a minute later when forward Jamil Danjaji finished a cross from midfielder Kevin Baldwin and the Midfielder William Recupero capped the scoring in the 68th minute, dribbling through the Scotland defense and blasting a shot into the back of the net.
USA 2, Netherlands 1
Three days later, the U.S. returned to Pinatar Arena and beat the Netherlands 2-1 behind goals from Paxon Ruffin and Luca Atongirolami.
Ruffin broke the deadlock in the 37th minute after the midfielder slipped past the defense and placed his shot into the bottom right corner. Atongirolami doubled the lead in the 65th minute, as the defender drove down the right side and powered his finish into the net. Corey Ngweya pulled one back for the Netherlands in the 79th minute, but the U.S. defense held on to secure the team’s second win of the window.
Belgium 4, USA 1
Belgium scored three times in the first half on its way to a 4-1 win in the third match of the window. Forward Clever Ossohou opened the scoring for Belgium in the eighth minute. Jeoffrey Mbambi then scored in the 24th minute and 41st minute to give Belgium a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Forward Lando Lucero, one of three U.S. second half substitutes, put the Americans on the board in the 62nd minute. Ryan Vermeersch added Belgium’s fourth goal in the 79th minute.
France 4, U.S. 1
The U.S. closed the window with a 4-1 loss to France. Forward Yanis Karbouch gave France the lead in the 26th minute. The Americans equalized just before halftime when forward Owen Jorgensen headed home a corner kick in the 43rd minute.
Karbouch restored France’s lead in the 51st minute with a finish from inside the box, which was his second goal of the match.
