RIVERSIDE, Mo. (Oct. 30, 2026) -- The U.S. Under-16 Girls’ National Team came back from a goal down to score twice in the second half and secure a 2-1 victory over England, giving the USA a sweep of the two-game set at Riverside Stadium at the training site of the Kansas City Current.
In the second international match at this age level for this group of 2011-born U-16 GNT players, England scored first with the goal coming off a corner kick from the left side in the 36th minute. Aleks Liddell-Michovski bent a low cross toward the near post and Nieve Childs guided the ball into the net with a flicked shot.
The USA tied it in the 56th when Lilia Bhuta (younger sister of 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup co-captain Mia Bhuta) lofted a ball over the top of the defense on the right to forward Alaia Harrington. The speedy Harrington took two touches as she dribbled into the penalty area and then smashed her shot off the bottom of the crossbar and in from 15 yards out.
The game-winner came in the 77th minute on a spectacular finish from midfielder Aubrey Taylor. It was Taylor who rushed to take a corner kick short from the right side. She played it to midfielder Olivia Winters, and Taylor overlapped, got the ball back and drilled a shot from just inside the right corner of the penalty box, over the ‘keeper and into the net.
This was Taylor’s second career U-16 GNT goal after scoring the first goal in the 2-0 win on Oct. 27.
The camp and matches were a part of the Federation’s continued focus on the U.S. Way philosophy, which emphasizes increased programming for Youth National Teams to create more opportunities for young players to advance through the pathway to the senior National Team with the goal of representing their country at a world championship.
