Hernán Garcias has been named the first full-time head coach of the U.S. Men’s Futsal National Team, the original showcase team of U.S. Soccer’s Extended National Teams program. Garcias brings 35 years of elite Futsal experience as both a player and coach to his new role at U.S. Soccer, including previous head coaching experience with Boca Juniors of Argentina and Club Asti Calcio of Italy. As a player, Garcias earned over 100 caps with Argentina and represented La Albiceleste in four different FIFA Futsal World Cups, as well as playing club futsal in both Argentina and Italy.

Garcias made his mark as a player at four different FIFA Futsal World Cups in 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012 for the Argentina Futsal National Team, while earning more than 100 caps for La Albiceleste. He helped the side out of the group stage in each of the four tournaments, aiding in a fourth-place finish in 2004 in Chinese Taipei, before captaining Argentina at the 2008 tournament in Brazil. He also represented Argentina in five different Copa América tournaments, leading the side to the title in 2003.

At the club level, Garcia played more than 200 matches in the Argentine First Division from 1995-2000. Following five years playing at home, he moved abroad to play in Italy, appearing in 560 matches for various clubs from 2000-2014. His playing highlights while in Italy include winning the Italian Serie A title with Montesilvano in 2009-10 and following that up the next season by winning the UEFA Futsal Champions League title with the same club in 2010-11. Garcias also won the Coppa Italia with Nepi in 2004-05 and claimed the Italian Serie B title with the same club in 2002-03.

Garcias also brings over a decade of high-level Futsal coaching experience to U.S. Soccer, having first led Italian Serie A side Club Asti Calcio to the Coppa Italia and Winter Cup titles in 2014-15. He has also led the Boca Juniors Futsal team in two different stints, from 2016-18 and 2020-24. During those periods, Garcias won two Argentine Primera División titles in 2017 and 2020, he also led the club to Argentine Supercopa triumphs in 2018, 2022 and 2023 and guided the side to qualification for the Copa Libertadores in 2018 and 2022.

During his time at Boca, he also served as the club’s overall Futsal Manager, overseeing a structure of over 1,000 male and female players across 36 teams from youth to adult, as well as leading the operations for the club's men’s and women’s professional teams.
