NATIONAL TEAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Returned from injury to play a substitute role in the USA’s 3-2 extra time win against Mexico in the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League Final on June 6, 2021 in Denver.
  • Captained the USMNT nine times prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, first wearing the armband in the 4-0 friendly win against Costa Rica on June 9, 2021 in Sandy, Utah.
  • His first international goal proved the game-winner in the USA’s 1-0 friendly win against rivals Mexico on Sept. 11, 2018 in Nashville.
  • Earned his USMNT debut in the first match of the new cycle, starting the 1-1 draw at reigning European Champions Portugal on Nov. 14, 2017 in Leiria, Portugal.
  • Represented the USA at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile and the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Korea Republic.

 

2022 FIFA WORLD CUP QUALIFYING

  • Appeared in 13 of 14 qualifiers, tying with Kellyn Acosta and Antonee Robinson for the team lead.

CLUB HIGHLIGHTS

  • Joined English Premier League club Leeds United on July 6, 2022 on a $24 million transfer fee.
  • Made his Leeds debut in a 2-1 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 6, 2022.
  • Spent three-and-a-half seasons with German side RB Leipzig, making 75 Bundesliga appearances and helping the club lift the 2021-22 DFB Pokal title.
  • Adams also became the first USMNT player to score in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal, providing the winner in RB Leipzig’s 2-1 victory against Atlético Madrid on August 13, 2020.
  • Joined RB Leipzig from sister club New York Red Bulls following the 2018 MLS season.
  • Made 59 MLS Regular Season appearances for New York Red Bulls between 2016-2018, helping the club lift the 2018 MLS Supporters Shield.
  • A RBNY homegrown product, signed with New York Red Bulls II in 2015, helping the club win the USL Cup the following year. 


PERSONAL

  • The son of Melissa Russo, grew up in a single-parent household before she reconnected with old high school classmate and now step-dad, Darryl Sullivan.
  • Has three step-brothers: Darryl Jr., Dylan and Donovan.
  • Dylan followed Tyler’s path through the New York Red Bulls Academy and plays collegiately at Clemson University.
  • Darryl Jr. Played collegiate football at Marist College.
  • Enjoys traveling and says Iceland is the favorite country he’s visited.
  • Interested in pursuing sports psychology once his playing career is finished.
