Summary

A structured, research-based self-assessment tool designed to help youth sports organizations, including soccer clubs, evaluate and strengthen their culture. The index provides clear indicators across three core areas—youth-adult relationships, coaching practices, and organizational policies—using a 4-point scoring system to guide reflection and action.

HOW AND WHEN IT CAN HELP

  • Ideal for teams, schools, and community soccer groups committed to positive culture.
  • Useful for administrators and directors conducting seasonal or annual program reviews.
  • Helps clubs and organizations set goals and track progress in youth development, social-emotional learning, and equity practices.
  • Supports coach development through observation and feedback aligned with specific behavioral indicators.
  • Strengthens a club or organization’s application for accreditation or funding.

WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT THIS RESOURCE

The index encourages deep reflection on communication, belonging, emotional safety, and cultural responsiveness. It helps clubs and organizations move beyond slogans to measurable behavior change and structural accountability that will benefit young people, communities and the game as a whole.
