GAME NOTES | FIVE THINGS TO KNOW – JAMAICA

• U.S. WNT Starting XI Cap Numbers (including this match): Lloyd (303), Press (146), Dunn (113), Horan (95), Dahlkemper (68), Lavelle (55), Sonnett (53), Davidson (31), Purce (7), Franch (5), Macario (4)

• The starting lineup against Jamaica features six changes from the Starting XI that took on Portugal on the opening match day of the Summer Series. The changes are: Franch for Naeher in goal, Sonnett for O’Hara at right back and Davidson for Sauerbrunn at center back, Macario for Samantha Mewis in the midfield, and two change in the forward line – Lloyd for Morgan and Purce for Rapinoe.

• The starting lineup averages 80 caps per player with three starters having 100+ caps and three starters having single-digit caps. Thursday’s Starting XI vs. Portugal averaged 117 caps per player with six of the 11 starters having 100+ caps and every starter having more than 50 caps.

• Carli Lloyd will captain the U.S. against Portugal and is slated to make her fifth start and ninth appearance overall of 2021. Lloyd, who is set to earn her 303^rd career cap, is by far the most experienced player in the Starting XI. Her cap total is more than double any other player in the Starting XI. In fact, seven of tonight’s 11 starters – Dahlkemper, Lavelle, Sonnett, Davidson, Purce, Franch and Macario – have a COMBINED 223 caps in their international careers, 80 fewer than Lloyd.

• Lloyd’s next goal would make her the oldest player in USWNT history to score a goal. Kristine Lilly is currently the oldest player to score a goal for the USA at 38 years, 264 days. Lloyd will be 38 years, 332 days old on June 13 when the USA squares off against Jamaica.

• Entering the match against Jamaica, Lloyd currently has 20,835 minutes played for the USA, which puts her in fourth on the all-time list, passing Mia Hamm (20,760 minutes). Only five other USWNT players – Lilly (28,874), Christie Pearce Rampone (24,011), Julie Foudy (21,849), Hamm (20,760) and Joy Fawcett (20,707) have played 20,000+ minutes in a U.S. uniform.  

• Goalkeeper Adrianna Franch is set to earn her fifth cap and will make her first appearance and first start for the USWNT since the 2020 SheBelieves Cup finale against Japan on March 11, 2020. This is Franch’s first call-up since the 2020 SheBelieves Cup after suffering a knee injury during training for the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup.

• Emily Sonnett will make her third start and seventh appearance of 2021, appearing in all but two USWNT matches this year. Sonnett, who will be earning her 53^rd cap overall, also started in the USA’s 6-0 win over Colombia on Jan. 22 and started and went the full 90 minutes again on Feb. 21 against Brazil in the 2021 SheBelieves Cup.

• Abby Dahlkemper will make her 68th appearance for the USWNT, which will also be her 61^st start in 68 caps. Dahlkemper led the USA in total minutes played in both 2019 and 2020 and has played in all but one match for which she has been available during her USWNT career. Dahlkemper has helped the USA to a clean sheet in each of her last six caps, all of which she has gone the full 90 minutes.

• Tierna Davidson will make her fourth start of the year and earn her 31^st cap overall. Davidson most recently started in the USWNT’s 1-1 draw against Sweden on April 10 and subbed on for Crystal Dunn at outside back in the USA’s 1-0 victory over Portugal on June 10.

• Crystal Dunn will make her eighth appearance and seventh start of 2021 with tonight’s match against Jamaica pushing her overall cap total to 113. Dunn will have now played in 38 of the USA’s 42 games since the start of 2019, making 36 starts over that span. She is fourth on the team in total minutes played in 2021 with 528.

• Lindsey Horan will make her 95^th international appearance with tonight’s match against Jamaica, continuing to close in on the 100-cap milestone. Horan has appeared in every game for the USA so far in 2021 and is tied for the team lead with four assists this year. She has tallied at least one goal or assist in 10 of her last 16 appearances for the USA, with eight goals and seven assists during that span. 

• Catarina Macario will earn her fourth career cap and make her third-ever start for the USWNT. Macario earned her first career USWNT cap on Jan. 18, coming on for Megan Rapinoe in the second half against Colombia and scored her first USWNT goal in her first USWNT start less than two minutes into the game against Colombia on Jan. 22. Macario also started and played 64 minutes in the USA’s 1-0 win over Canada on the opening match day of the 2021 SheBelieves Cup.

• The only player to appear in every match for the USWNT since the resumption of play in November 2020, Rose Lavelle will make her 10^th consecutive appearance and earn her 55^th career cap overall. This will be the seventh start and ninth appearance for Lavelle in 2021. Lavelle has accounted for two of the USA’s eight game-winning goals since the resumption of play in November 2020.

• Christen Press will earn her 146^th cap tonight and will make her sixth consecutive start, the second-longest such streak of her career and her longest since a seven-game streak in 2015. Press has now started eight of the last nine matches for which she has been available. Press is in the middle of one of the finest stretches of her career as she has been directly involved in 31 goals in her last 33 games.

• After getting an assist on the winning goal vs. Portugal on June 10, Press now has 60 career goals and 40 career assists, making her the 14^th player in U.S. history with a combined 100 or more goals and assists in her international career. 

• Margaret “Midge” Purce will make her third career start and her seventh career cap with tonight’s game against Jamaica. Purce, who has earned all seven of her caps under Andonovski, will be making her first start in an attacking position. Purce’s previous two starts game at outside back, though she subbed on for Lynn Williams in the forward line during the USWNT’s Jan. 22 win over Colombia and went on to score her first career goal.
