ATLANTA – Full details for the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 have been announced by U.S. Soccer following this morning’s draw that aired live on CBS Sports GolazoNetwork. Brackets and hosting scenarios for the Round of 16 of U.S. Soccer’s national club championship were also revealed.
The Round of 32, which features the 16 victors from this week’s Second Round action facing off against 16 Major League Soccer (Div. I) clubs, will take place April 14-15. The group of advancing teams includes nine from the USL Championship (Div. II), six from USL League One (Div. III) and one from MLS NEXT Pro (Div. III).
Today’s draw saw clubs divided into eight groups of four based on geography. The groups are named for the eight most capped players with the U.S. Men’s National Team that have captured a U.S. Open Cup title. Each quartet includes two Second Round winners and two teams from MLS – one designated home in the Round of 32 and one designated away. The two winners from each group’s Round of 32 matchups will face off in the Round of 16, set to take place April 28-29. The hosting priority order for the Round of 16 was also determined as part of this morning’s draw and is outlined below.
As 16 MLS clubs enter the tournament, key matches in the Round of 32 include the first-ever Charlotte Derby between Charlotte FC and the Charlotte Independence; a rematch of last year’s Round of 32 clash, as the New England Revolution host Rhode Island FC in Pawtucket, R.I.; and an opportunity for the last remaining MLS NEXT Pro side, Chattanooga FC, to host an MLS team for the first time in club history, as CFC welcomes Atlanta United FC to Finley Stadium. Other key matchups include Louisville City FC facing last year’s runners-up Austin FC for the first time at Lynn Family Stadium; Detroit City FC matching up with Chicago Fire FC for the second consecutive season, this time at the historic Keyworth Stadium; and the 1995 Open Cup champion Richmond Kickers meeting the 2002 Open Cup-winning Columbus Crew for the first time since 2015.
Every match from the Round of 32 will stream live on Paramount+ with select matches also co-airing on either CBS Sports Network or CBS Sports Golazo Network. CBS Sports will host The Golazo Show whip-around program highlighting every goal from eight April 15 matchups, beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET on Paramount+ and CBS Sports Golazo Network.

Groups were formed to ensure there are enough venues to host all Round of 32 and Round of 16 matches, regardless of the outcome of the draw and match results, and to allow for two days of rest between league and Cup matches. In instances where there was not a natural geographic fit, teams were selected via random selection. If any team advancing from the Second Round was unable to host in the Round of 32, that group’s draw was announced and not drawn live. In this case, the live draw simply determined Round of 16 priority hosting order.
