The 2026 U.S. Open Cup Team of the Round is here! The collection of 18 players and one coach highlights the top performers across four Quarterfinal matches.
Orlando City SC and St. Louis CITY SC dominated the Team of the Round following impressive performances in the Quarterfinals. Additionally, the Colorado Rapids, Columbus Crew and Houston Dynamo FC placed multiple representatives on the Team of the Round.
The 18 players named to the Team of the Round were responsible for three assists and all 12 of the goals scored in the Quarterfinals. Notably, three players on the Team of the Round recorded multiple goal contributions in their Quarterfinal matches.


Coach – Martín Perelman, Orlando City SC (MLS): Orlando’s interim head coach guided his side to the Semifinals for the first time since 2022, securing his third consecutive Open Cup victory with a dominant 4-1 showing against rival Atlanta United FC. The result equaled the largest margin of victory of Perelman’s tenure as first-team coach and matched Orlando’s largest margin of victory against its Southeastern foe.
GK – Nico Hansen, Colorado Rapids (MLS): The 24-year-old Everton youth product recorded his second clean sheet of the tournament, making six saves in the Rapids’ 2-0 victory against the San Jose Earthquakes. Hansen also recorded 14 recoveries, completed 79% of his passes and added three clearances.
D – Artur, Houston Dynamo FC (MLS): The 30-year-old Brazilian scored his first Open Cup goal—his first goal contribution in the tournament since providing an assist in Houston’s victorious 2023 Open Cup Final—in Houston’s penalty shootout loss to St. Louis. Across 120 minutes, Artur completed 90% of his passes, won five duels, connected on all four of his long passes, registered four recoveries, totaled three clearances and recorded three interceptions.
D – David Brekalo, Orlando City SC (MLS): The Slovenia international kicked off Orlando’s thrashing of rival Atlanta United FC with a goal in the fifth minute—his first career goal in the Open Cup. Brekalo went on to contribute with a 76% passing accuracy rate, six duels won, three clearances and three recoveries.
D – Dante Polvara, St. Louis CITY SC (MLS): In his first season in St. Louis, the former Aberdeen and Charleston Battery man helped CITY SC advance to the Semifinals for the first time in club history thanks to a 93% passing accuracy rate, nine recoveries, six interceptions, six clearances, four duels won and a key goal-line clearance across his 120 minutes of action.
M – Max Arfsten, Columbus Crew (MLS): The USMNT midfielder scored his 20th goal for Columbus since joining the Crew in 2023, bagging the winner in the 59th minute against New York City FC. The World Cup-bound American finished with an 85% passing accuracy rate, four recoveries and three duels won.
M – Griffin Dorsey, Orlando City SC (MLS): Scoring in a third consecutive match, Dorsey bagged the winner for Orlando in the Lions’ lopsided victory against rival Atlanta. Through 84 minutes, the former Open Cup champion also completed 79% of his passes, added three clearances, registered three recoveries, won three duels and placed two additional shots on target.
M – André Gomes, Columbus Crew (MLS): In his first Open Cup appearance with Columbus, the former Portugal international helped Columbus to the Semifinals for the first time since 2010, recording a 94% passing accuracy rate, six duels won, six recoveries, four tackles won and two blocks.
M – Braian Ojeda, Orlando City SC (MLS): The World Cup-bound Paraguayan tallied two assists in a single match for the first time in his career, guiding Orlando to a big win against Atlanta. The 25-year-old finished with an 86% passing accuracy rate, five completed long balls, five recoveries and three duels won.
F – Marcel Hartel, St. Louis CITY SC (MLS): Now with four Open Cup goals in as many matches, Hartel tallied his third St. Louis brace to help CITY SC to the Semifinals for the first time in club history. The 30-year-old German also scored in the penalty shootout, completed 75% of his passes, created three chances and totaled three recoveries.
F – Rafael Navarro, Colorado Rapids (MLS): Navarro followed up his two-assist performance in the Round of 16 with a goal against San Jose in the Quarterfinals. The Colorado captain also won nine duels, completed 75% of his passes, added four recoveries, won three fouls and completed both of his dribbles.
F – Tiago, Orlando City SC (MLS): The 21-year-old Brazilian recorded his first Orlando brace since joining the club over the offseason, helping Orlando to the Semifinals for the first time since 2022 while also posting a 75% passing accuracy rate, four recoveries and four duels won.
